Rent a Lake House

My brother and sister-in-law just happen to be renting one! Check out their website at www.tichiganlakehouse.com for more info, but hurry, it's booking up fast!

Wisconsin Roots

Believe me, I love, love, love Chicago, but when it comes to the BEST summer festival around, I recommend Milwaukee. Yup, good old Summerfest! Right on the lake, tons of music, great food, reasonable prices. You just can't beat Milwaukee's Summerfest. If you haven't gone...it's a must.

Here's a nice little guide if you're going to be in the Milwaukee area and want some good recommendations of where to eat.

Looking for a Pet?

I adopted my dog, Ella, at the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago. She's definitely the best $50 I ever spent! Not only did they hook me up with a beautiful pup, but they also offered me puppy classes, so Ella and I could learn together!

Woman Made Gallery is another great site to check out. It's a not-for-profit organization which was founded in 1992 who's goal is to support women in the arts by providing opportunities, awareness, and advocacy. They have great theme-based exhibitions and many one-woman shows.

For more emerging and established local art talent, go to Around the Coyote's site. They have art festivals, artist-in-residence opportunities, and a great education outreach program.

The Bay View Arts Guild is located in the neighborhood of Bay View, Wisconsin, just south of downtown Milwaukee. The majority of members are visual artists. Yet, the group also represents other artistic fields: theater, music and dance. The main goal of the organization is to make the arts an integral part of life in Bay View. We want to increase awareness, appreciation, and support for all the arts through education, entertainment, and community involvement.

Need a resource for purchasing art supplies? If you can wait just a few days for shipping and would like to save a buck or two, I would recommend Blick.

Wisconsin Painters & Sculptors (WP&S/WAAM) is the oldest juried member art organization in Wisconsin. Founded in October of 1900, the association was formed by a group of painters and sculptors who met in Louis Mayer’s Milwaukee studio and was originally called the Society of Milwaukee Artists. That group of men and women met and exhibited more or less steadily from that time until 1913, when the name was changed to Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors. Read more about the WP&S online.
